The Problem: 

4/10 private-sector workers and 81% of the lowest-wage workers do not have paid sick days;

59% of restaurant workers have reported preparing, cooking, or serving food while sick;

For these workers, the decision to take time off from work to recover from an illness is a choice between their health and their financial security.

The Solution: 

The Healthy Families Act – federal legislation that would enable workers to earn up to seven paid sick days a year to recover from an illness or care for a sick family member, or see a doctor.

Revisions to the D.C. Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act to include tipped restaurant workers.

Please join us for a day of discussion regarding:

  • the Healthy Families Act;
